Privacy policy

Dropwise · last updated 28 August 2026

Dropwise collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no server to send anything to.

Everything below is the detail behind that sentence.

What is collected

Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. The app makes no network requests at all — it has no online mode to fall back to.

What is stored, and where

Your tanks, readings, maintenance events, reminders, custom test kits and settings are stored in a single file on your own device. Any photographs you attach are kept as separate files in the same place. Those files:

You can export the lot at any time from Settings → Export as JSON, on the free version as well as the paid one — photographs included. It is your data, in a plain readable format, and that stays true whatever happens to this app.

Photographs

You can attach a photograph to a reading or an event. It is taken or chosen by you, stored on your own device beside the rest of your data, and never uploaded — there is nowhere to upload it to. Nothing in the app looks at what is in a picture.

Dropwise asks for access to your camera and your photo library only when you tap to add a photograph, and only for that.

Before a photograph is saved, Dropwise removes its metadata — including any location your camera recorded — so an exported backup cannot carry where the photograph was taken.

You can see how much space your photographs are using, and delete older ones without losing the readings they belong to, in Settings → Photographs.

The one-off purchase

Dropwise sells a single one-off unlock through Apple's own in-app purchase system. Apple handles the payment; this app never sees your payment details, your name, or your Apple ID. All it ever learns is whether an unlock has been bought, and that answer stays on your device.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are created and delivered by your own device — a test timer finishing, or a reminder you set yourself. Nothing is sent from anywhere else, and no notification service is involved.

Children

Dropwise does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone of any age, because it does not collect personal information from anyone at all.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Rights of access, correction, erasure and portability all concern data held about you by someone else. No such data exists here: nothing is transmitted, and nothing is held. Your own copy is in your hands — exportable, and deletable — at all times.

Changes to this policy

Any future version will be posted at this same address with a new date above. Since the app collects nothing today, any change of substance would be significant, and would be stated plainly rather than buried in a date change.

28 August 2026. The Photographs section above is new. Dropwise gained the ability to attach a photograph to a reading or an event, which is why it now asks for camera and photo library access. Nothing about the first sentence of this page changed, and nothing left the device: photographs are stored beside your other data, are never uploaded, and have their metadata removed before they are saved.
