This app collects nothing. Everything it knows stays on your device.

Ptolemy Times Tables is a free times-tables practice app for children. It has no accounts, no adverts, no purchases, no analytics and no internet connection of any kind. There is no server for your information to be sent to, because we do not run one.

What we collect

Nothing. We — the developer — receive no information about you or your child, ever. We cannot see how the app is used, whether it is used at all, or who is using it.

What the app stores on your device

So that practice carries on where it left off, the app saves the following in your device's own private app storage:

• the profile name and colour a grown-up typed in when setting the app up;
• the school year a grown-up selected;
• which times-tables facts have been answered, whether they were right, and how long each answer took;
• stars, badges, personal-best scores and which days practice happened on;
• settings, such as whether the countdown, sounds and vibration are on.

This information never leaves the device. It is not backed up to us, shared with anyone, or used for advertising or profiling. It is visible only inside the app, in the grown-ups area.

We never ask a child their age

The app never asks the child their age, date of birth, or any other personal detail. A grown-up chooses a school year during setup, behind a press-and-hold parental gate, and that is used only to decide which times tables to practise.

Notifications

A grown-up can choose to turn on practice-summary reminders from the grown-ups area. These are local notifications: your device creates and shows them by itself, using information already stored on it. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. They are off unless switched on, and can be switched off again at any time in the same place. The app works completely normally if you never turn them on, or if you refuse the iOS permission prompt.

No third parties

The app contains no advertising networks, no analytics or crash-reporting services, no social-media components and no third-party tracking of any kind. No data is shared with anyone because no data is gathered.

Children's privacy

The app is designed for children and is intended to be set up by a parent or carer. Because it processes nothing off the device and asks for no personal information, there is nothing for us to store, disclose or delete on our side. This is a deliberate design decision, made so that the app satisfies the UK Children's code (the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code) and the US COPPA rules by not collecting anything in the first place.

Not an official product

Ptolemy Times Tables is an independent app made by one person in the UK. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency.

The Year 4 Check in this app is a practice run built to match the published rules of the Multiplication Tables Check. It is not the official check, it is not the one your child sits at school, and no score in this app is reported to anyone or counts for anything.

Deleting the information

You are in control of everything the app has stored:

• a profile's progress can be reset, or the profile deleted, in the grown-ups area;
• deleting the app from the device removes all of it permanently.

Because we never receive any of it, there is nothing to request from us and no account to close.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the effective date above changed. The app's own copy of this policy, inside the grown-ups area, is updated at the same time.
